Steve and I are new colleagues, and I was enjoying getting to know him and very much looking forward to working with him (we both have the same nickname from back home--Barney). Even those of us who have known him a short time know him to be a remarkable person, and that has been so fully confirmed by the stories on this page. I am so sorry for the loss that those of you in his family feel, and I can easily imagine the emptiness that Steve's long time colleagues feel as well. I wish you all peace-- Jeff Grabill
