I knew Steve through the N8 Agrifood Programme when he was based in Sheffield and met him again more recently at a Global Food and Environment Institute workshop in Leeds. He was always very friendly, approachable and interested in those around him. It was a huge shock to hear he had passed away and I send my deepest sympathies to Steve's family.
